Rachel Malloy

DNP, RN, CNRN, SCRN

Rachel is a neuroscience nurse with over 25 years of experience specializing in neurocritical care, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and neuroimaging. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Wake Forest School of Medicine, where she teaches media competency to DNP scholars as adjunct faculty. As the creator of the Media Competency Training Program for the Nurse and a leader in professional nursing organizations, Rachel empowers nurses to advocate for public health through media engagement.

She is a published author, an international speaker, and currently serves as the Clinical Application Manager at Natus Neuro. Passionate about education and advocacy, Rachel combines her expertise and leadership to advance the voice of nursing and improve brain health awareness. She resides in Merritt Island, Florida, near her two granddaughters.

NEUROSURGERY

Katie Archer

MSN, APRN, CNRN

Katie Archer is a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner in Louisville, KY. She started her nursing career in the Neuro ICU at a level one trauma center after graduating from University of Kentucky in 2007. She completed her MSN from Bellarmine University, graduating with her Family Nurse Practitioner in 2013. After working in a variety of roles as a Nurse Practitioner she had the opportunity to return to Neurosurgery in 2017 and was eager to return to an academic environment, where teaching is a priority. She obtained her Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) certification and has since become impassioned about teaching neuroscience. 

She enjoys educating about all topics in neuroscience and frequently speaks at local, regional, and national conferences. She became involved with the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and is an active volunteer within the organization. She believes in the power of nursing and wants to proliferate neuroscience education with her Ask The Brain Nurse team.

Michael Rogers

Michael Rogers is a dedicated neuroscience nurse with a strong background in neurocritical care and nursing professional development. He currently serves as a Nursing Professional Development Practitioner at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, where he supports the growth and education of nursing staff.

A 2010 nursing school graduate, Michael is currently pursuing his Master’s in Nursing Education, reinforcing his passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of neuroscience nurses.

Michael has been actively involved in advancing neuroscience nursing through the American Association of Neuroscience. He is also a published author.

Julie Penny

DNP, RN, CCRN, SCRN, CNE-cl

Julie Penny has over 12 years of experience as a nurse in medical and neurosurgical intensive care and over 10 years of experience as educator, in clinical and academic settings. She holds a Master of Nursing degree specialized in Nursing Education from Duke University — Go Blue Devils! —and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

She currently works as the neurocritical care clinical specialist for Natus Neuro where she develops and delivers clinical education programs along with collaborating with physicians and nurses to address clinical needs and optimize patient care. She is a published author and national presenter. Julie is from Pennsylvania but has “gone to [North] Carolina,” where she recently got married and lives with her husband.
